About the Artist
My name is Jacquelyn Gochal, most call me Jack. I am the artist behind star + pine pottery.
For as long as I can remember I have been creating, designing or making something. Whether I was sculpting a clay model of a neighborhood park when I was five or building my first home in 2008, my passion for art and design have stayed with me throughout my life. In January of 2022, thanks to a dear friend, I rediscovered my love of clay and sculpture and was afford a chance to make my pieces a reality. I found myself sitting for hours each night after work creating a collection of pottery pieces that would be a mix of some old and new ideas I've had throughout the years. Blending my love of the natural world and a desire to create unique functional pieces, this 2022 collection was born. The overall theme of this body of work is centered around the idea of "home" and holding space for sacred things.
My fondness for stars, plants and spirits greatly influences my designs and the overall vibe of my work. Many of my pieces are what I refer to as "altar" pieces. A sacred feminine figure or smudge pot you might keep close by when sitting for a meditation or smudging your home. Tiny clay homes that hold sweet plants or a fistful of wildflowers from your kiddos. Each piece is lovingly and intentionally handcrafted, each with its own unique character and feel.
